Health Centre Baltezers has 15-year experience in children’s rehabilitation. The centre offers special programmes for children with postural and motion issues, cerebral palsy and other paralytic syndromes, and injuries of nerves, nerve roots and nervous plexuses.
The specialists of the Health Centre will help children suffering from bronchial asthma and other chronic respiratory diseases, and children who often suffer from respiratory inflammations. Health Centre offers the opportunity to improve the health state after bronchitis, pneumonia or lung surgeries.
The following rehabilitation services are offered free of charge within the framework of the programme paid by the state for children under 17.5 years with general practitioner’s referral:
- Motion therapy for babies using Bobath and other methods.
- Therapeutic exercises for postural correction
Although drugs are considered as the main method in asthma management, regular rehabilitation courses can reduce frequency of the attacks and extend the period of asthma remission. During sessions a physiotherapist teaches children suffering from bronchial asthma how to control breathing and teaches how to breathe correctly, relax and control the body in order to prevent or reduce shortness of breath, and teaches how to be aware of the body and posture.
An integrated rehabilitation course is made in combination with other procedures offered by the centre (salt therapy, physiotherapeutical procedures); it helps to manage the course of the disease. Children suffering from bronchitis and other respiratory diseases (e.g., pneumonia) can attend sessions conducted by a physiotherapist in order to reduce cough and restore health faster.
Physiotherapeutic sessions which are attended in childhood in due time can often help prevent progression of a disease in later years.
